2013 - 2014 Kindergarten - 8th grade Open Enrollment and Magnet School application information

The Open Enrollment and Magnet Application period for Jackson-Madison County School System for Grades K-8 for the 2013-2014 school year began on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 through Thursday, February 28, 2013.

Open Enrollment is an opportunity to request a Jackson-Madison County School for your child other than their zoned school for the next school year.

You should complete the Open Enrollment process if you are interested in your child attending a school other than their zoned school. If you are unsure what your child’s zoned school is for 2013-2014, check the website www.jmcss.org under the ‘Find my school’ tab or contact the School Service Center office at (731) 664-2500.

The selection of students for Open Enrollment consideration is NOT on a first come, first served basis. All applicants have an equal opportunity for placement. Students will be selected in a random lottery depending on space availability at the requested school. Some of our schools are already at, or near capacity and may not be able to accept students for Open Enrollment.

You may hand deliver, fax or mail your application to the School Service Center Office located at 310 North Parkway, Jackson, TN 38305. Schools will not accept Open Enrollment applications. Our hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. The fax number is (731) 664-2502. All applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013.

Parents will be notified about the status of their Open Enrollment request by mail after the random selection process is held. The random selection process is scheduled to be held on March 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. If you have questions regarding the open enrollment process, please contact Mrs. Kimberly Butler, Administrator for Magnet School Registration at (731) 664-2532.

For the 2013-2014 school year, Jackson-Madison County School System will offer Open Enrollment for its students in grades K-12.  This program will not be offered to students in the pre-k program.
