Do you know someone who speaks another language or languages?

Our English as a Second Language program (ESL) prepares and strengthens students having first languages other than English. ESL is helpful for students whose first language is not English, students who have family members who speak another language, or students who speak another language when they’re not at school.

The student is asked about his/her language background during school registration. If the student has a language other than English, an evaluation will be made to determine if he/she is fluent enough in English to be successful in our schools. If the student needs English language support, there are daily classes taught by ESL teachers. The primary goal in these classes is to make sure the student has all the academic English he/she needs to succeed in school. These classes will continue until the student is fluent in academic English. If parents do not want their children to receive these extra ESL classes, they may request a waiver.
