    Announcements for Everyone   

    • Please join the South Side Theatre as they present this year's production, Cato, written by Joseph Addison and directed by Leeana Cargile.  Showtimes are March 2-4 at 7pm and March 5 at 2:30pm.  Tickets are $5.  Please note that some material may not be appropriate for young viewers. 

    • There will be a Spanish Club meeting Monday, February 27 in 4W after school.  Please check your REMIND messages for more details. 

    • Congratulations to the Hawk Basketball team for finishing runner-up in the Disctrict 14AA Tournament.  It was a great game with the Hawks coming up just a shot short in an overtime thriller by a score of 75-77.  They will host the first round of the Region Tournament on Saturday, February 25 at 7pm at South Side HS.  Congratulations to Coach Fuller for being named Coach of the Year!  Congratulations to Geordan Reed, Kamron Rose, and Bryce McBride for being named to the All-District Team and the All-Tournament Team.  We are so proud of our Hawks!

    • Congratulations to the Lady Hawks basketball team on their BIG win over Lexington HS for their (second straigth) District 14AA title. They will play in the first round of the Region Tournament Friday, February 24 at 7pm at South Side HS.  Congratulations to Coach McNeal for being recognized as Coach of the Year!  Congratulations to Cheyenne Cunningham, Tamia Curry, Quanardra Miller, and Makayla Transou for being named All-District; Cheyenne Cunningham, Nikindra Taylor, and Makayla Transou for being named to the All-Tournament Team; Tamia Curry for being named the Tournament MVP; and to Cheyenne Cunningham, Brandi Gibson, Kierra Fuller, and Tamia Curry for being named to the All-Academic Team. 

    • Attention Juniors that are interested in registering for Clinical Internship and Nursing Education next school year:  Applications can now be picked up from Mrs. Castleman in the Tech Prep building this week between classes.  Completed applications are due back no later than March 9. Additionally, there will be an interest meeting immediately after school on February 27 in Mrs. Castleman's room.  

    • If you received an invitation to join Beta Club, the deadline to accept your invitation and pay dues is February 28.  

    • South Side competed in the West TN Skills USA Competition on Friday, February 17.  Winners were Dalton Long for Automotive and Justin Dove in Carpentry.  The will compete in the state competition in Chattanooga this April.  Congratulations to all South Side students who competed!  You represented us well.  

    • UT-Martin is offering a one-day ACT Prep Class to help students get ready to do their best on this test.  Visit their site for dates, times, and locations. 

    • Jackson Madison County Teen Court Youth Volunteer applications are now available.  Students currently in grades 9-11 that are interested in being a part of this teen court program may pick up an application in the student services center.  The deadline to return applications are February 24.  


    Announcements for the Senior Class of 2017

    • Calling all 12th grade athletes!  The Sports Hall of Fame scholarship application is now available in Student Services.  The deadline is quickly approaching, so stop by today to pick up your application.

    • The Project Graduation committee will meet next Tuesday, February 28 at 6pm.  A new fundraiser will begin on this date.  All seniors are needed at this meeting.  

    • The Class of 2017 is creating a senior class video!  If you would like to be in the video, send in your favorite memories, from elementary school to today, baby photos, and other like items to sshsseniorclass17@gmail.com.

    • ALL community service hours for TN Scholars and the Community Service medallion are due to Mrs. Freeman by April 7!  

    • See student services for applications to these scholarships.  Stop by and help yourself to these wonderful opportunities!

    • The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. is sponsoring a Minority Scholarship Essay Contest.  The senior winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.  Applications are available in student services.

    • Please bring a copy of your college acceptance letters by Student Services (guidance) for recognition of this exciting milestone!

    • Hawk Basketball News... The Lady Hawks and Hawks are doing great in post season play!  The Lady Hawks captured their second straight District 14AA title and will play Friday, February 24 at 7pm at South Side in the first round of the Regional Tournament against South Gibson HS. The Hawks will play Saturday, February 25 at 7pm at South Side in the first round of the Regional Tournament against Obion County HS.   Keep up with the latest Hawk scores and news from CoachT.  Go Lady Hawks and Hawks! #hawknation

    Welcome to Jackson, Tennessee! Home of Blue Suede Shoes, Rockabilly and great barbecue! Also, Jackson is home to the Jackson-Madison County School System. In 2016, our Jackson-Madison County Schools are home to over 13,000 students that speak over 17 languages from very diverse backgrounds. Our district is home to nine elementary schools, three K-8 schools, four middle schools, three traditional high schools, one magnet high school and one early college high school.

    Additionally, our district is also home to one Pre-K Center for the youngest citizens ages 2-4. Spend time visiting our school websites to see the unique educational offerings each school provides to the students of the Jackson-Madison County area.
