Nomination forms for the First Annual
Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards are now being accepted in Madison
County. The awards will celebrate the efforts of volunteers who
strive to improve their communities through service.
Volunteerism plays a vital role in
the State of Tennessee. It is the drive and dedication of those
willing to serve and donate their time and effort in the time of
need which makes this a great county and state in which to live.
One youth and one adult volunteer
will be selected in Madison County to receive this prestigious
award. Nominees will be judged based on the community’s need of the
volunteer service performed, initiative taken to perform the
service, creativity used to solve a community problem and impact of
the volunteer service on the community.
Nomination forms can be picked up at
the Jackson City Hall and the Madison County Courthouse. They can
also be accessed online at www.co.madison.tn.us or by calling
Regetta Nelson at 423-6020. Applications must be received by August
15, 2008.
Volunteers are a vital part of our
community. Whether it is a catastrophic disaster, need to assist
with social events or the need to help the less fortunate, they are
always there and willing to serve.
Recipients of the Madison County
volunteer awards will be recognized at the Governor’s Volunteer
Stars ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee on October 20, 2008.
