• Work-based learning (WBL) is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers in Tennessee. Students build on classroom-based instruction to develop employability skills that prepare them for success in postsecondary education and future careers. Through experiences like internships, apprenticeships, and paid work experience, juniors, and seniors (16 years or older) may earn high school credit for capstone WBL experiences. WBL coordinators are educators trained and certified by the department to coordinate these WBL experiences for students. (Work-Based Learning (tn.gov)

L.O.O.P.- Local Options and Opportunities Program is a unique work-based learning opportunity where students attend a modified school day for academic credit through an online learning lab model with teacher support and work experience at their placement with a JMCSS Industry Partner for the remainder of the day. For some industry partner assignments, this experience takes place at the industry site instead of the traditional high school. Students must apply to this program.
