    Announcements for Everyone    

    • Hola!  There will be a Spanish Club meeting on 8/31 in Mr. Ortiz's room.  Dues are $10 and you must be enrolled or have taken Spanish to join.

    • It's time to join HOSA!  Pay your $15 dues with Mrs. Kirkendol.  Cash only please! 

    • Ag students can begin paying their FFA dues for this year.  The cost is $15.  Students in both semesters can pay their dues now.  The deadline is November 1.

    • Tryouts for cross country wil beld Monday, August 21 from 2:40-3:15.  Anyone interested in trying out must see Coach Benson or Coach Wyatt by Friday 8/18 and have their physical by Monday.

    • Any sophopmore or junior interested in taking the PSAT in October may see Mrs. Sherrod in Tech Prep to sign up.  The deadline to sign up is Friday, September 1.  It is $15 and this must be paid by the day of the test. 

    • The Book Club is rebooting this school year.  If you are interested, our first meeting will be in the library on August 29 from 2:30-3pm.  

    • The first Anime Club meeting will be August 31 from 2:30-3:30 in the library.  Anyone with an interest in anime is welcome to attend!

    • Beta members.. The deadline for submitting club dues and your membership application is September 30.  Our next meeting is August 30 at 2:30 in the library.  Be listening for an announcement regarding an online questionnaire and club officer ballot coming next week!

    • Parents, if you would like access to your child's information, giving you the ability to track grades and attendance, contact Elizabeth Parnell at erparnellATjmcss.org with your name and your South Side student's name and she will forward you the PowerSchool Parent letter with instructions on how to access your account.  

    • There will be a blood drive on August 31 with Lifeline Blood Services.  Students must be at least 17 years old by this date and have returned a signed permission slip.  Students may pick up a permission form in Mrs. Webb's room on West Campus or in the library on East Campus.  If you give three times this year, seniors will be given a red cord to wear at graduation.

    • There will be a financial aid workshop "Financial Aid 101: Funding a College Education" on August 21 at 5:30pm in the library.

    • The Hawks football travel to Ripley tonight for the season opener of the 2017 season.  Game time is at 7pm.  Go Hawks!

    • Congratulations to Makayla Transou for being named to the 2017 All-State Track team by the Tennessee Sports Writer's Association. Makayla was named to the team for her amazing season in the long jump.  She joins Quanardra Miller who was chosen to the girl's basketball team.  Way to go Makayla and Quanardra!  #HawkPride  

    • Fall sports are gearing up for their seasons!  Fall sports schedules have been placed on the school calendar of events, or you may visit the "About our School" and click through until you find a sport to download their season schedule!  Go Hawks!

    Welcome to Jackson, Tennessee! Home of Blue Suede Shoes, Rockabilly and great barbecue! Also, Jackson is home to the Jackson-Madison County School System. In 2016, our Jackson-Madison County Schools are home to over 13,000 students that speak over 17 languages from very diverse backgrounds. Our district is home to nine elementary schools, three K-8 schools, four middle schools, three traditional high schools, one magnet high school and one early college high school.

    Additionally, our district is also home to one Pre-K Center for the youngest citizens ages 2-4. Spend time visiting our school websites to see the unique educational offerings each school provides to the students of the Jackson-Madison County area.
