Ms. Amanda Brabham
Amanda Brabham joined the staff at East Elementary after three years as assistant principal at Thelma Barker. Prior to joining JMCSS, Brabham worked in her hometown of Columbus, MS, where she was a Special Education teacher at the elementary and high school levels. She joined JMCSS in 2012 as a wellness teacher and coach at Jackson-Central Merry High School. Brabham also held roles as the assistant principal at Parkview Learning Center and principal at Whitehall Pre-K Center.
Her high level of expectation for everyone and her commitment to the education and success of all students will not waver as she leads the staff at East. "I am extremely honored to join the East family as their new principal," stated Brabham, "Students should expect a joyful and innovative learning experience. Parents can expect a principal who will be focused on listening, observing, and building trust, so that we can collectively provide a learning environment conducive to learning."
A wife and mother of two, Brabham earned a Bachelor's degree in special education and elementary education at Mississippi University for Women, as well as a Master's degree in health science. Brabham also earned an additional Master's degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. In addition to her degrees, she is a 2017 graduate of the National Institute for School Leadership and a 2018 participant in the Governor's Academy for School Leadership.
