Dr. Vivian Williams
As Chief of Student Support and Improvement, Dr. Vivian Williams helps plan, develop, direct and monitor day-to-day educational services for students. She also focuses on the improvement of any of the District’s priority schools.
A product of the District, Dr. Williams is a graduate of Jackson Central-Merry High School. She earned an undergraduate degree from Lane College and went on to receive her Master of Education from the University of Memphis. She earned certifications in elementary education and special education from the U of M, as well. Dr. Williams received her certification in administration from Freed-Hardeman University and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Supervision from Union University.
Dr. Williams spent more than a decade in the classroom before serving as principal at Whitehall Elementary and Northeast Middle Schools. She began her work at the Central Office in 2009 and most recently served as the Chief Academic Officer before assuming this role.
Dr. Williams is married and is the mother of two and the grandmother of two.
