GreenpowerUSA Electric Cars
-
GreenpowerUSA is a premier Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program where students build, race, collect data on, and promote their electric cars. Students in grades 9 through 12 participate in a hands-on, project-based learning experience that engages students academically and builds critical employability skills.
In its inaugural year, the JMCSS Greenpower team, Torpedo Racing, was composed of students at JCM Early College High and Madison Academic. Currently, the team has two cars. Since then, each JMCSS middle school received a car kit to race in Greenpower events.
Students apply and interview to participate on the JMCSS Greenpower team. Each student fills a team role in the areas of safety, data, public relations, driving, building, design, and materials management.
