JMCSS has partnered with Jackson State Community College, United Way, and Jackson Chamber of Commerce to create the "J-TECH Institute" for high school juniors. The goal of this institute is to provide FREE dual-enrollment course offerings and opportunities to complete technology-related industry certifications while providing students with the foundational skills needed in the tech sector.
Who is Eligible to Apply: JMCSS rising 11th-grade students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (no minimum ACT score required to participate)
When is the Course: The class starts in August 2024 and is anticipated to be one day a week from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. This course is considered a 5th block for students.
Optional Summer Opportunities: As part of the J-Tech program, students are encouraged to participate in a 3-day summer tech camp during the summer 2024. Additional details will be communicated from JSCC if you are accepted into this J-Tech cohort.
What Does a Student Need: Students need to provide their own transportation to and from Jackson State for each class. Students will also need to take their JMCSS-issued laptop to class. If they do not have a JMCSS laptop, one will be provided if they are accepted into this program.

Applicants will be notified via their JMCSS email address if they are accepted into the J-Tech Institute. All students who are accepted will start class at Jackson State in the Fall.
