While our focus is on implementing strong core curriculum across all schools, the Jackson-Madison County School System is home to several academic programs and schools that have a specific focus for their learning.
Community Montessori School
The public Montessori program, which has existed in Jackson since 1992, moved to 716 Westwood Avenue as Community Montessori School in 2016. At CMS, staff and students focus on valuing our local and global worlds and living peaceful and sustainable lives. Their school follows a distinctly Montessori approach. Admission to Community Montessori is through the open enrollment lottery.

JCM Early College High School
JCM Early College High School offers students the ability to earn up to 60 college credit hours while taking their required high school classes. Their atmosphere is designed to look and operate like a college campus. Students select one of four main pathways: computer information technology, health sciences, teaching, or advanced manufacturing. Students at JCM Early College High are challenged academically and staff members work closely with students to develop career-readiness skills. Admission to JCM Early College High requires an application and interview process.
Madison Academic Magnet High School
Madison Academic is a college preparatory high school that provides a rigorous secondary curriculum that ensures their students master the academic skills that will enable them to become life-long learners. They have several extra-curricular opportunities, including a 15 year State winning Academic Decathlon team, Forensics/Debate, Beta Club and an excellent Fine Arts program. Admission is only lottery based, but a C average (2.0 GPA per semester) is required to maintain enrollment.
Middle School Academic Academy at Northeast
Housed within Northeast Middle School, the Academic Academy is an Academic magnet program for middle school students. Their vision is to encourage and challenge students to excel in a safe, nurturing, learning environment of high expectations and rigorous academics. Their core classes include a focus on humanities and foreign language, with the opportunity to earn high school credit in Algebra I, foreign language, and Environmental Science. The selection of students for the Academic Academy will include academically talented students measured by test scores and certified gifted by the state of Tennessee. A selection committee will screen all applications.
