What's It Like At JMCSS

  • Families

The Jackson-Madison County School System is honored to serve the families that choose to partner with our district to provide an excellent educational experience for their children. Jackson-Madison County Schools are home to nearly 13,000 students.  Our district is made up of a total of 23 campuses that include:

    • One Pre-K Center
    • Nine Elementary Schools
    • Three K-8 Schools
    • Three Middle Schools
    • Five High Schools
    • Two Transitional Campuses

The Jackson-Madison County School System provides school choice options through our Open Enrollment/Magnet School Application process.  Through this process, students have the opportunity to choose which schools they would like to attend during their educational career.  Students may attend their zoned school or they may choose to apply to a school outside their zone or to one of our magnet programs within the district.  Open enrollment placement is a computerized lottery selection base on the number of openings available at each school.  Two academic programs in the district, the Academic Academy at Northeast Middle School and JCM Early College High School, accept students via a separate application process which is not decided by lottery.

The Jackson-Madison County School System strives to ensure that every student that passes through our doors has the opportunity to receive a great education in order to be prepared for success in college, career and life.
