History
Alexander Elementary School has served continuously as a neighborhood school since its beginning. The first school was built in 1908 and served 100 students. After attendance grew, the current building was developed in 1948 for its opening in the fall of 1949. The building was named after W.F. Alexander, who was an active member of the City School Board. Another highlight in Alexander's history is that the Teacher's Credit Union (now Leaders) was envisioned and founded by Alexander's teachers.
Alexander currently serves approximately 390 students in grades PreK-5.
