History
Madison Academic is a high school offering a rigorous college preparatory curriculum through courses dedicated to academic excellence and personal growth. The building was erected in 1928 and had extensive renovations during the summer of 2003. Windows were replaced, old lockers were torn out, the lecture room and library were renovated, and the interior of the building was painted.
Our school opened in August 2003. Madison Academic serves approximately 500 students in grades 9-12. No students are zoned to Madison Academic. Any student may apply to Madison Academic as long as they reside in Madison County. All students apply and are chosen through a lottery system which is coordinated by the JMCSS Board of Education. There are no requirements for admission, but students must maintain a C average to remain at Madison Academic. If a student falls below a C average, they are placed on probation for one semester. At the end of the semester, if their average is still below a C, they must transfer to their zoned school.
