Veterans Day Parade

Veterans walk down each hallway as students wave American flags and thank them for their service.

On Friday, November 8, 2019, Thelma Barker Elementary honored veterans during their Veterans Day parade. All students decorated flags and waved them as veterans walked down each hallway. The 4th and 5th grade honor choir performed several songs in honor of the veterans. Students were excited to show respect and thank the veterans for their sacrifices and love for our country.

The Veterans Day parade is an annual event at Thelma Barker. Veterans who served in the Vietnam War came and lead an assembly where they showed and explained the significance of the folding of the American flag.

Even though Thelma Barker is an elementary school, faculty and staff believe it is important to show students the importance and significance of honoring veterans on their special day.

Thank you, veterans, for your many sacrifices and love for our country!
