JMCSS Receives Grant Funding to Support LAUNCH Career Readiness Initiative
JACKSON, TN - The Jackson-Madison County School System is the recipient of a $60,000 Perkins Reserve Grant for the 2019-20 school year. Through these funds, the district will be able to expand the LAUNCH career readiness initiative in more areas of the district and build on the successes of the 2018-2019 school year. These funds will pay for equipment updates, industry certification exams, and middle school career exploration curriculum and supplies. The Maintenance Light Repair Program at Liberty Technology will receive equipment updates to allow the program to be aligned with TCAT-Jackson and industry standards. Industry certification exams will be purchased for students throughout the district as appropriate for OSHA 10, ServeSafe, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Certified Production Technician (CPT), Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Rose Hill, JCT, North Parkway, North East, and West Bemis will all receive materials needed as part of the career exploration courses offered at each school. Through this grant funding, the district will be able to expand the focus on workforce development and provide more options and opportunities for students.
