Above Average Growth for Andrew Jackson Elementary in One Year

JACKSON, TN - Andrew Jackson has “No Excuses” when it comes to student learning and increasing student achievement. Overall improvement in Math went from a 1 to a 4 on the state’s 5-point scale which is a tremendous accomplishment for staff and students. Improvement this large is attributed to the strong curriculum and framework the district has in place along with weekly teacher collaboration, use of strategies that correspond to trends from classroom observations, ongoing feedback to teachers, and an aligned tutoring program.

“I’m elated that our students showed so much growth in one year,” stated Ramonica Dorsey, Principal at Andrew Jackson Elementary. “We are not where we want to be but are continuing to strive each day to become a Level 5 school. We have some amazing teachers at Andrew Jackson Elementary and our students are blessed to have them as their teacher. Our teachers are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that all students receive the best education possible so that they can be college or career ready.”

Staff and students plan to continue working the plan to further their progress. Administrators are committed to support teachers and provide them with explicit feedback to improve their instructional practice. This is one more way JMCSS schools are showing consistency and continuing to Trust the Process.
