JMCSS receives STEM and Workforce Development Grants
JACKSON, TN – Jackson-Madison County Schools was recently awarded two grants from Toyota totaling $30,000. The first grant is for $10,000 to support STEM and workforce development and specifically allows for the purchase of robotics kits and opportunities for students to visit manufacturing facilities. The second grant is $20,000 to increase STEM education opportunities in the local schools. More information on each grant will be provided in the coming weeks.
JMCSS has had a partnership with Toyota for several years collaborating on workforce development. “Toyota Manufacturing TN has invested funds into the local school district because they know that their future workforce is going to largely come from these schools,” stated Nathan Lewis, Principal at JCM Early College High. “They have partnered with JMCSS to give students exposure to STEM careers. Partnerships like the one between Toyota and JMCSS are designed to give Madison County students options and opportunities when looking at their future professions.”
