On-site interviews for employment opportunities begin at 3 p.m.
JACKSON, Tenn. – In an effort to attract new talent for all departments, the Jackson-Madison County School System is hosting a career fair on Tuesday, March 21, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oman Arena. This event, in addition to direct recruiting on college campuses by members of the JMCSS Human Resources team, are coordinated efforts to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year.
“Superintendent Dr. Marlon King and our Board members have worked to increase compensation and incentives for all employees. Our Individualized Investment in Every Employee Plan (IEP2) offers competitive pay and longevity bonuses. This will be a great opportunity for residents in and around Madison County to start a new and rewarding career,” Deputy Superintendent Dr. Ricky Catlett said.
Representatives from all 26 JMCSS schools will be in attendance to discuss employment opportunities, as well as district chiefs and directors from 12 central office-level departments.
“As the second largest school district in West Tennessee, we are constantly thinking of ways to attract and retain talent. More than any other school district in our region, we’ve proven our commitment to invest in our employees. Multiple bonuses for all employees over the last two years are examples of that. We'll continue to build a diverse talent pool that mirrors the diverse communities our schools serve,” said Chief Human Capital Officer Dr. Diane Hicks-Watkins.
The Jackson-Madison County School System employs nearly 2,100 professionals. While much of that number is comprised of teachers and certified staff, bus drivers and facilities staff play a critical role in the district’s mission to provide equitable options and opportunities for students in a safe, caring environment.
“The career fair will open an opportunity for people outside the district to see the new things we’re doing and what we have to offer,” said board member Sherry Franks, Chairman of the Personnel Committee. “It adds a personal touch when people can come and ask questions face to face.”
