Lincoln Elementary and JCT Continue Improvements on State Assessments
JACKSON, TN – With the release of 2018-19 data, more of JMCSS’ priority schools have met expectations. Lincoln Elementary and Jackson Careers and Technology (JCT) Middle were previously identified as priority schools based on the state identification process for schools performing below expectations. This designation is given every three years and guidelines are given on how these schools are to show improvement. After several years of consistent curriculum, implementation of the instructional framework, and timely coaching conversations these schools are seeing improvements.
“We still have much to do on behalf of our scholars and we are dedicated to successfully accomplishing the task in front of us,” stated LaDonna Braswell, Principal at Lincoln Elementary. The staff at both schools are pleased to have maintained/exceeded expectations while decreasing discipline data and chronic absenteeism.
While Lincoln and JCT have plans specific to their schools, they are continuing the plan the district has set forth which puts a laser focus on curriculum as well as teaching and learning for all students. “Our ultimate goal is the students,” said Steve Webster, 5th grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary. “This means we must stay the course and trust the process.”
