About South Elementary
Welcome to South Elementary, the home of the Mustangs! South is a community school where students learn and grow together. We value the individuality of each child, and, as a result we meet each child exactly where they are to help him/her reach his/her fullest potential. The instruction your child will receive is data driven and technology based. We utilize district and site-based assessments to monitor the ongoing progress of our students.
We, also, have strong parental/community support and involvement demonstrated by our PTO. We host a variety of events for our students, parents, and community such as Fall Festival, Veterans’ Day program, Grandparents’ Day, holiday dinners and programs, family literacy night, May Day, and Dandy Jumpers for Dandy Readers. We are a “Gold Rewards School” recognized nationally by the Alliance for Healthier Generations, and strive to incorporate physical fitness and healthy choices into each of the classrooms.

Enjoy Your Summer Break!
On behalf of the South Elementary staff, I want to thank you for an exceptional year together as we supported students in their growth and learning. We would like to encourage students to continue to read and use our online I-Ready program this summer. All students have access to the online I-Ready program, an individualized pathway that guides students to achieve learning targets.
We look forward to welcoming you back to school during our Open House on Thursday, August 2ndfrom 4-6pm.
We wish you a summer full of wonderful memories and thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.
We are excited about being able to double our efforts to improve reading by having these two programs at South Elementary. We will continue with Accelerated Reader and Jackson (South) Reads Millions. Both programs encourage students to read books that are age appropriate and on their reading level. We are always encouraged when we see our students get excited about a good book and history has shown us that when students read their comprehension, fluency and test scores increase. An extra benefit to these reading programs is that our students, not only read at school, but spend extra time reading at home and this tends to involve parents in the educational process also.
Recognized as Gold School of Health
The faculty and students at South Elementary strive to incorporate activities in the classroom that help them live a healthier lifestyle.
