  • Mission and Vision

    Mission Statement: We, the community of Jackson Central-Merry Early College High School, are committed to empowering a diverse student body to develop and apply skills in order to pursue knowledge and become productive college students, workers, and citizens. We will accomplish this goal by designing curricula and support structures that ensure all students meet and exceed performance standards to obtain a high school diploma and multiple levels of college credit that will lead to a workforce certificate or an associate degree. 

     

    Vision: JCM Early College High School is a diverse and inclusive school community, committed to academic excellence and integrity. We provide instruction in a caring, safe and healthy learning environment, responsive to each student, in collaboration with families and the community.

  • School Colors and Mascot 

    Our school colors are GREEN and GOLD. Our mascot is the cougar. 

     

    PIE Partners

    Our Partners in Education (PIE Partners) are Toyota Bodine, Borden Technologies, Jackson State Community College, Tennessee College of Applied Technology, West TN Healthcare, IAMJCM, 4-H, Light of Life Ministries, and The CO. We are immensely appreciative of each one of these partners. 

     

    History

    The Early College High School program began in 2015-2016 at North Side High School as a school within a school. There were about fifty students in the program at NSHS. Nathan Lewis became the principal of the program in 2016 and was charged with moving the program to a stand-alone location in the JCM Vocational Building. The new building location became Jackson Central-Merry Early College High. The enrollment for 2016-2017 was 136 students. The school had four focus areas that included the following pathways: computer information systems, health sciences, teaching, and advanced manufacturing. The enrollment for 2017-2018 was 196 students and in 2018-2019 the school will have 9th-12th grades on campus. In May of 2019 our first group of seniors graduated from JCM-ECH.  In early May of 2019 we had 17 students who walked across the stage at JSCC as the first students from the public school system in Jackson, TN to complete A.A. degrees while still in high school.  Students at JCM-ECH are prepared for classes at JSCC or the TCAT center starting in 9th grade. Students can earn up to an Associate's degree while also being enrolled in high school. There are currently over 70 students taking classes on the campus of Jackson State Community College. While the school focuses on the four pathways, students can take classes in almost all programs offered at JSCC or TCAT.

     

     

    JCM Early College High School Accomplishments and Accolades

    • JCM Early College High was a TVAAS Level 5 Composite school for 2016-2017 
    • 2016-2017 students completed 900 college dual credit hours (97.09% success rate)
    • 2016-2017 students completed 63 dual-enrollment hours at JSCC during the summer of 2017
    • Over 2,500 hours of community service hours were completed in 2016-2017
    • 1 JCM ECH student was chosen to design the Jackson-Madison County Library website (2016-2017)
    • 3 students and 1 teacher attended a trip to San Francisco for their web designs in the (Dev Catalyst) program (2016-2017)
    • 8 students attend a St. Louis STEAM Conference–SCOPE CSO Institute-and were named Chief Science Officers  (2016-2017)
    • 5 students chosen from JCM-ECH for Leadership University (2016-2017)
    • 3 WBBJ Teachers of the Week - Eugene Clark, Monquea Coby, and Kameilah Allen (2016-2017) and 1 WBBJ Teacher of the Week so far in 2017-2018-Adam Simpson
      • JCM Early College High was a TVAAS Level 5 Composite school for 2017-2018
      • JCM Early College High was named a Reward School for the State of TN in 2017-2018
      • 2017-2018 students completed over 2,500 hours of college credit courses 
      • 2 students attended a trip to San Francisco for their web design in the (Dev Catalyst) program (2017-2018)
      • 4 students chosen from JCM-ECH for Leadership University (2017-2018)
      • 2017-2018 students completed over 2,500 hours of college credit courses 
      • 49 graduates in 2019 completed 1,927 hours of college credit, were awarded 17 Associates degrees, and completed 5,450 hours of community service
      • 49 graduates were awarded over $2,789,010,58 in scholarship monies
      • 49 graduates were all Ready Graduates
      • 8 seniors decided to join a branch of the armed forces
      • 2 seniors completed the LOOP program and one was hired for a full-time position at Stanley Black and Decker
      • 1 student attended a trip to San Francisco for his web design in the (Dev Catalyst) program (2018-2019)
      • 4 students chosen from JCM-ECH for Leadership University (2018-2019)
