  • Dr. Chris Nye, Pre-Algebra 8 and Algebra I (High School Course)  - This is Dr. Nye's 20th year of teaching in the Jackson-Madison County School System.  His first three years of teaching were as the Geometry teacher at Jackson Central-Merry High School.  The next 8 years of teaching were at Liberty Technology Magnet High School in the subjects of Geometry, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.  Since the onset of the Academy in 2014, he has taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 at Northeast Middle School in the Academic Academy.  Dr. Nye earned Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Lambuth, his Masters of Education, Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership, and Doctorate of Education from Union University. He is also the boys and girls Cross Country coach for Northeast.

  • Mrs. Jana Young, Environmental Science (High School Course) - Mrs. Young also serves as the Academy lead teacher and science department chair. She has also been with the Academy since its founding in 2014. She graduated from Murray State University  with a BS in Middle School Education with focuses in science and social studies with a minor in agriculture. She has been teaching since 2010. She has taught all subjects, but most time spent in science. She has continued her professional learning by serving as a leader for science education for the state of TN.and has an MS in Educational Leadership from WGU. She is also the Academic Pentathlon coach. She has a farm with her husband here in Jackson where they have horses and goats. She loves hiking, powerlifting, coffee, and training her dog Freckles. 

  • Mrs. Kim Dilden, Humanities III (integrated ELA and Social Studies) - Mrs. Dilden is originally from Humboldt and is a proud graduate of Humboldt High School.  She graduated from UT Knoxville and then received her M.A.T at East Tennessee State University.  This is her 22nd year of teaching, and she absolutely loves her job.  She has been with the Academy since its founding. She is wife to Joe, mother to Seth, and owner of a sneaky dog named Loki.  She enjoys books and movies of all kinds. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Education from Arkansas State.

  • Mrs. Erika Perez, Spanish I (High School Course) - Sra. Perez has been teaching Spanish to middle and high school students since 2011. She was born and raised in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico where she attended the Universidad Interamericana del Norte Campus Chihuahua and earned her Bachelors Degree in Communication Sciences. Her goal for her students is to continue learning foreign language beyond the classroom, and to inspire them the passion of learning about different cultures.
