Bachelors Masters Educational Leadership

Mrs. Shannon E. Davis, Ed. S.

Greetings Denmark Parents and Community,

I am honored to serve as your principal for the academic year 2024–2025. I have been employed by Jackson-Madison County Schools for eighteen years. I have worked as an academic coordinator at JCM Early College High for two years, as an assistant principal at JCM Early College High for two years, as a first and second grade teacher at Nova Elementary for four years, as a second and third grade teacher at Thelma Barker Elementary for eight years, and as the principal of Alexander Elementary for two years. In addition, I am an adjunct professor at Tennessee State University (online) and Jackson State Community College (ground and online). Being the principal of Denmark Elementary School inspires me to help more students and families excel.

I graduated from Haywood High in Brownsville, Tennessee, in 1992. I earned a Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University (1997), a Master of Education from Freed Hardeman University (2006), and, most recently, a Master of Instructional Leadership from Freed Hardeman University (2020), with a concentration in Administration and Supervision.

I reviewed items for the state's second-grade assessment and was a 2017–2018 Score Fellow at the state level. Additionally, at Union University, Freed Hardeman, and the University of Memphis, I have mentored and led aspiring teachers. I've held positions as the Jackson State Community College Liaison, Testing Coordinator, Response to Intervention Lead, and Literacy JCM Early College High.  Lastly, I serve on the Tennessee Association of Secondary Principals' advisory board.

My affiliations include Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Inc., Gamma Psi Chapter, an education sorority, of which I am the second vice president.

I fervently believe that students should succeed. Every day, I work hard to ensure that EVERY child, from preschool through college, has all they require for success and is aware of the tools available to them to help them achieve their objectives.

My children and spouse, Dr. Patrick Davis Sr., are graduates of Jackson-Madison County Schools. My husband holds the position of Vice President at the Stanton Campus of Tennessee College of Applied Technology. We have two children: Patrick Davis Jr. (a May 2024 graduate of UT Martin) and Imani (a reporter for WMC Channel 5 News in Memphis). As principal, it is my goal to give your kids the greatest education possible.

Kind Regards,

Mrs. Shannon E. Davis
