About the Board

  • The Jackson-Madison County School Board is made up of nine members who are elected to a four-year term representing the district in which they reside. The Superintendent of schools serves as secretary to the board. The Jackson-Madison County School Board sets all policies and procedures for the 26 schools in the system and is affiliated with the Tennessee School Board Association.

    Any questions relating to the operation of the school system may be appealed to the Board, after pursuing all appropriate administrative channels. Individuals or groups, represented by one individual, may address the Board at a regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Remarks will be limited to three minutes with placement on the agenda arranged in advance through the superintendent’s office by calling 731-664-2503.
